The Regional Equine & Agricultural Centre of Huron has been designed as a multi-purpose facility on a 35 acre site.
Phase One included the construction of the Arena Complex, containing:
- 211' x 108' indoor riding arena
- Grandstand seating for 500+ and handicap access
- Indoor raised and heated viewing room/judges booth
- Sound booth
- Concession stand
- 73' x 133' indoor warm-up area attached to the indoor arena
- School horse stabling for 22 horses and 2 stallions
- Teaching Barn, suitable for hands-on studies in farrier science, reproduction, equine massage
- Teaching Laboratory facilities for reproduction and other courses
- 2 indoor wash stalls
- Heated and secured tack room
- Administration offices
- 6 outdoor wash stalls
Phase One also included the retrofit of a former elementary school to become the EDUCATION CENTRE:
- Executive Boardroom with wireless sound system and internet.
- 3 large classrooms, Large meeting room, Banquet Room with wireless sound, internet and projection screen
- Media studies room, with computer connections and smartboard
- Amphitheatre where large animals can be walked into a tiered seating style classroom for the purposes of conformation and anatomy studies
- Dorm rooms for up to 20 short stay students or campers and 4 staff or councellors.
- Galley Kitchen for staff/students and a Community/commercial kitchen available for rent by the hour or day
- A green roof on a portion of the building for school visits and demonstration purposes
Phase Two is in its initial stages, which includes construction of:
- 200' x 400'outdoor show ring with lights, sand footing, sound system and spectator seating
- 200' x 200' outdoor warm-up ring with sand footing, lights and sound system
- Additional stabling for 150 horses
- Hay/bedding storage for ship-in horses
- Outdoor wash stalls
- Vendor area for trade shows
- Ample exhibitor and overnight parking areas
- RV parking with hookups at 40 sites
